Oh man, I loved that guy. He was a fantastic mournfully-existential presence is so many Euro Art masterpieces, esp the holy trinity of #TheAmericanFriend, #WingsOfDesire, & #Downfall (he was reportedly tickled pink by the viral videos). What an incredible career.
