Of course, my main motivation was finishing so I could get to the In-N-Out truck afterwards (yeah, I'm a vegetarian, but trust me their grilled cheese is pretty darn good).
The start line with the runners in front, it was a Run/Walk after all.
We decided to walk, and even then we were solidly bringing up the rear. All those Kids who were running 4 Kids? Yup, they were way ahead of us.
We got to the 1K mark and we still had a fair amount of energy.
Even our canine brethren got in on the act.
By the time the 4K mark came around I was struggling...
But George seemed to be doing all right, running without a care in the world.
We finally finished after a long, long time.
Retired soccer star Brandi Chastain was on hand during the medal ceremony. And no, she didn't celebrate in her own unique way...there were Kids 4 Kids around...
Emma "Nancy Drew/Niece of Julia" Roberts was also on hand, but she wasn't quite as thrilled.
Skateboarding star (as I was told by my young colleagues afterwards) Ryan Sheckler was on hand to donate his own Range Rover to this kid Drake who had raised over $38,000 for the event. What a nice guy.
What a nice Range Rover (was Drake even old enough to drive?).
We found out that George won his age group, but the poor chap was on his way back home when they presented it. We were more than happy to accept it on his behalf even though we had, in all probability, finished last in our age group.
