Now that I am officially on tenterhooks for Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood, I as thinking about the a strange phenomenon among movie lovers.
People who loved his film Magnolia hate Punch-Drunk Love, and people who loved Punch-Drunk Love hated Magnolia.
I, of course, am in the latter category (as my old USC classmate Mike Saenz so memorably said, "Magnolia is the world's most expensive student film.").
Any explanations/insight would be much appreciated.
