The putative throw-in in the Josh Beckett deal, the underrated, and perhaps no longer under-appreciated, thrid baseman was the World Series MVP.I have always liked the steady, unflappable, polite Lowell. I thought he was a major part of the Florida Marlins' 2003 World Series win, and I sincerely hope Boston gives him the same kind of home-town premium they extended the overrated Jason Varitek.
