Dude, I was totally mad when I heard that they were going to remake the classic, RoboCop (Paul Verhoeven in fine, madman form).
But then I heard that Darren Aronofsky, the Darren Aronofsky, the crazy, relentless, outre auteur, is the man directing it (according to Variety this was a really badly kept secret).
At one point Aronofsky was actually attached to reboot the Batman franchise and was ironically given the boot because the brass at Warner Bros. thought his take was too dark.
Now he'll get another chance to remake a franchise using his own singular aesthetic.
Pretty cool.
